Grade 3 Listening practice
5 Grade 3 listening lessons, including listen for places, biggest number, tricky spelling words, remember the story, groups by ear. Each one has a short video where Pip explains the idea, a worked example, and endless new practice questions with step-by-step help when a child gets stuck.
Step 1: Listen for places
Directions use place words: next to, across from, beside, under.
Tip: Picture a map as you listen.
Step 2: Biggest number
Hold numbers in your head and compare them.
Tip: Compare the hundreds first, then the tens.
Step 3: Tricky spelling words
Tricky words have silent letters or unexpected spellings.
Tip: Break the word into syllables: dif-fer-ent. Spell each part.
Step 4: Remember the story
Listen for who, where and when, then the problem.
Tip: After you listen, retell it in one sentence in your head.
Step 5: Groups by ear
Equal groups mean multiplication: 4 bags with 3 apples is 4 × 3.
Tip: Listen for how many groups and how many in each.
